Baby wraps are a great way for parents to carry their babies and toddlers.

The cloth tightly hugs your child around you, like another extra layer of clothing. Compared to carriers, the wrap is designed to distribute your child’s weight evenly over your shoulders, hips, and back.

It is beneficial both for you and your little one. It gives infants the support they need without sacrificing the parent’s comfort.

Boba Wrap allows you to easily carry your child while you’re traveling or while you work at home, or when you just have to run a few errands.

If you want to know more about Boba Wrap, we’ll be reviewing its benefits and how different it is compared to other brands.

What is Boba Wrap? Weight Limit On Boba Wrap

Boba Wrap was founded by husband and wife Elizabeth and Robert Antunovic. It started back in 2007 when their family was traveling across Europe. Since then, they’ve now grown to accommodate thousands of customers across the globe.

They are even certified as hip-healthy for babies by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. The baby’s spine and hips are well protected because the wrap helps position them.

Their first product — the Boba Wrap, is a type of stretchable fabric meant to carry the infant. This allows the babies to be as close as possible with their parents or caregivers. The baby will be able to snuggle closely to their parent’s chest, giving them the warmth and comfort they need.

A parent’s scent is one of the most comforting things for a baby. Top it off with getting warmth and hearing your heartbeat, and you will have one happy baby.

It’s ergonomic and breastfeeding-friendly. You can still use them even if your child is a toddler but they work best when used in newborns. Aside from Boba Wraps, they also offer Boba Carriers and even accessories.

The website also provides wrap tutorials and tips, which can be helpful for people who’ve never tried using baby wraps.

What is Boba Wrap made of?

Boba Wrap is made of a blend of cloth having 5% Spandex and 95% cotton. Both of these materials make it stretchable and soft.

For reference, the Boba Wrap is about 5.5 yards long. Although it’s stretchable, it’s not as elastic as other substances, which is just fine as it’s enough to carry your infant. The best thing about this is that even with repeated use, it will not snag. You’ll have the ability to use the wrapping until your child reaches 35 lbs. Some parents even have it on toddlers and found no problems.

Additionally, it is breathable, but the mix of spandex can make it too warm to wear during the hottest days of summer. Otherwise, it is perfect to be used outside in colder weather. It provides you and your kid enough warmth. If you’re intending to use it during summer, just make sure your child is wearing light clothing.

Cleaning is also easy because of the material. It also dries quickly, and it is easy to put it on your bag when you are not using it. It doesn’t take up too much space like the other items in your baby bag.

Boba Wrap offers you 11 options. You can select from 9 different colours and 2 prints.

Colors include light gray, bloom, vintage blue, sangria, navy blue, dark blue, and dark grey. If you are not into plain colors, they’ve included a wrap with polka-dotted prints and another one with rainbow patterns.

How does it fare to other baby wraps?

Boba Wrap aims to provide comfort to the parent and the child without having to sacrifice durability and quality. However, Boba Wrap is not the only baby wrap that offers these. If you have a baby to take care of, choosing which to go for can be hard.

In this section, we will have a look at how Boba Wrap performs against other competitors. For this review, we selected two of the most popular — Moby Wrap and Solly Baby.

Boba Wrap vs. Moby Wrap

The Moby Wrap is made of 100% cotton and is approximately 6.6 yards long. It can carry babies that weigh from 8 pounds to 35 lbs. It can also be machine washed.

The cotton makes the wrapping more breathable and comfortable during warm days. It can stretch also, so that you can use it until your infant becomes a toddler.

Moby Wrap also enables parents to configure the wrapping in four different ways. This makes it more accommodating as your child develops. It is possible to use Moby Wrap to carry them facing inwards, at the front, or on the hips.

If you compare the material, Moby Wrap is more comfortable when it comes to breathability. In terms of thickness, the Boba Wrap is thicker than the Moby Wrap. The latter is more suitable to be used during the hot summer months so that you and your infant will be comfortable.

However, the Moby Wrap doesn’t have a lot of room for stretchability compared to Boba Wrap. Once you put inside the baby in the wrap, the whole thing easily stretches if you use the Boba Wrap instead. You can tie it as tight as possible and it wouldn’t be much of a problem. This is much easier to deal with compared to using Moby Wrap, where you must tie it just right since it doesn’t stretch as much. Plus-sized parents also find the Boba Wrap more accomodating. It is also easier to use as your child grows.

Furthermore, Boba Wrap’s weight range accommodates babies from 5 pounds up to 35 pounds. On the other hand, Moby Wrap ranges from 8 pounds to 35 lbs. The stretchability factor of Boba Wrap makes it easy to be used by infants which are beyond 35 pounds.

Both products are good, but if you’re looking for a more versatile infant wrap, the Boba Wrap is more recommended.

Boba Wrap vs. Solly Baby

Solly Baby is another wrap carrier which has become popular over recent years. They are also recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for being hip-healthy. Just like Boba Wrap, this one is at 5.5 yards. It may carry up to 25 lbs.

The material is made of 100% Lenzing Modal. For those who aren’t familiar with the fabric, it is made from Austrian Beechwood tree pulp. This Austrian fabric is then weaved and processed in L.A.

Lenzing Modal is much more breathable compared to cotton. It can circulate air better than other fabrics since it’s lighter. It’s also moisture-wicking, so it can keep you cool during summer while keeping you comfortable during winters. Weight Limit On Boba Wrap

However, compared to Boba Wrap, Solly Baby has a steeper learning curve. Tying it up can be harder even if there are tutorials available online.

Moreover, the fabric can be too thin for some parents. It doesn’t stretch as well as Boba Wrap’s, so finding just the perfect tightness when creating the wrap can be more challenging.

Though Solly Baby’s fabric is sturdy, the thicker feel of Boba Wrap might be more comforting for some parents. It is also more long-lasting from wear-and-tear.

Since Solly Baby can only accommodate up to 25 pounds, you might not be able to use it when your baby turns 9 weeks old. On the other hand, Boba Wrap can accommodate up to 35 lbs, making it usable until your child becomes a year old.

Pros & Cons

To help you decide whether Boba Wrap is recommended for you, we have summarised the advantages and disadvantages.

Pros

  • Fabric is soft
  • Elastic
  • Durable
  • Affordable
  • Usable even by 1-year-old babies
  • Recommended for plus-sized parents

Disadvantages

  • Wrapping has a learning curve
  • Fabric can be too hot during summer
  • Petite-sized parents will find it too long

Bottom Line

The Boba Wrap is an excellent investment, whether you are a first-time parent or not. You can use it on your newborn baby until they become toddlers.

The material is durable and elastic. Because it’s 5% spandex, it can make you feel warm. Remember to wear light clothing on hot days. It is machine washable and dries quickly. You may use it in different ways. Furthermore, it’s easy to store them.

Even though it is not perfect, the advantages of using Boba Wrap outweigh its defects. It is durable compared to other baby wraps. It’s comfortable not only for your baby but for you as well. Say goodbye to backaches! Weight Limit On Boba Wrap
