Baby wraps are a great way for parents to carry their infants and toddlers.

The fabric tightly hugs your child around you, like another extra layer of clothing. Compared to carriers, the wrap is designed to distribute your child’s weight evenly over your shoulders, hips, and back.

It is beneficial both for you and your little one. It gives infants the support they need without sacrificing the parent’s comfort.

Boba Wrap allows you to easily carry your child while you’re traveling or while you work at home, or whenever you just have to run a few errands.

What is Boba Wrap? Sids Boba Wrap

Boba Wrap was founded by husband and wife Elizabeth and Robert Antunovic. It began back in 2007 when their family was traveling across Europe. Now, it’s grown to accommodate thousands of customers across the world.

They’re even certified as hip-healthy for infants by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. The wrap can help properly position the baby so that their spine and hips are well protected.

Their first product — the Boba Wrap, is a type of stretchable fabric intended to carry the infant. This allows the babies to be as near as possible with their parents or caregivers. The baby will be able to embrace closely to their parent’s chest, giving them the warmth and comfort they need.

A parent’s scent is one of the most comforting things for a baby. Top it off with getting warmth and hearing your heartbeat, and you’ll have one happy baby.

It is ergonomic and breastfeeding-friendly. They are best used on newborns, but you can still use them if your child is already a toddler. Aside from Boba Wraps, they also offer Boba Carriers as well as accessories.

If you never had experience how to tie baby wraps, their website also provides wrap tutorials and tips.

What is Boba Wrap made of?

Boba Wrap is made from a blend of cloth having 5% Spandex and 95% cotton. Both of these materials make it soft and pliable.

For reference, the Boba Wrap is about 5.5 yards long. Even though it is stretchable, it is not as elastic as other substances, which is just fine since it’s sufficient to carry your infant. The best thing about this is that even with repeated use, it doesn’t snag. You’ll have the ability to use the wrapping until your child reaches 35 lbs. Some parents even have it on toddlers and found no problems.

It’s also breathable, but the mix of spandex can make it too warm to wear during the hottest days of summer. Otherwise, it is perfect to be used outside in colder weather. It provides you and your child enough warmth. Just make sure that your child is wearing light clothing if you’re intending to use it during summer.

Cleaning is also easy because of the material. It also dries quickly, and it is easy to put it on your bag when you are not using it. It doesn’t take up too much space like the other things on your baby bag.

Boba Wrap offers you 11 options. You can select from 9 different colours and 2 prints.

Colors include light grey, bloom, vintage blue, sangria, navy blue, dark blue, and dark grey. If you’re not into plain colors, they have included a wrap with polka-dotted prints and another one with rainbow patterns.

How does it fare to other baby wraps?

Boba Wrap aims to offer comfort to the parent and the child without having to sacrifice durability and quality. However, Boba Wrap is not the only baby wrap that offers these. For those who have a baby to take care of, choosing which to go for can be hard.

In this section, we’ll have a look at how Boba Wrap performs against other competitors. For this review, we selected two of the most popular — Moby Wrap and Solly Baby.

Boba Wrap vs. Moby Wrap

The Moby Wrap is made of 100% cotton and is about 6.6 yards long. It can carry babies that weigh from 8 pounds to 35 pounds. It can also be machine washed.

The cotton makes the wrap more breathable and comfortable during hot days. Because it’s also stretchable, you can use it until your infant becomes a toddler.

Moby Wrap also allows parents to configure the wrap in four different ways. This makes it more accommodating as your child develops. You can use Moby Wrap to carry them facing inwards, at the front, or on the hips.

If you compare the material, Moby Wrap is more comfortable in terms of breathability. Concerning thickness, the Boba Wrap is thicker than the Moby Wrap. The latter is more suitable to be utilized during the hot summer months so that you and your baby will be comfortable.

However, the Moby Wrap doesn’t have a lot of room for stretchability in comparison to Boba Wrap. With the Boba Wrap, it is possible to tie it a tight as you can because it will easily stretch once you put the baby inside the wrap. This is easier to deal with compared to Moby Wrap, where you have to tie it just right because it doesn’t stretch as much. Plus-sized parents also find the Boba Wrap more accomodating. It’s also easier to use as your child grows.

Additionally, Boba Wrap’s weight range accommodates babies from 5 pounds up to 35 pounds. On the other hand, Moby Wrap ranges from 8 pounds to 35 lbs. The stretchability factor of Boba Wrap makes it easy to be used by infants that are beyond 35 pounds.

Both products are great, but if you’re looking for a more versatile baby wrap, the Boba Wrap is more recommended.

Boba Wrap vs. Solly Baby

Another wrap carrier which has become popular over the recent years is Solly Baby. They are also recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for being hip-healthy. The length is at 5.5 yards, just like Boba Wrap.

The material is made of 100% Lenzing Modal. For those who aren’t familiar with the fabric, it is made from Austrian Beechwood tree pulp. This Austrian fabric is then weaved and processed in L.A.

Compared to cotton, Lenzing Modal is more breathable. It can circulate air better than most fabrics as it’s lighter. It’s also moisture-wicking, so it can keep you cool during summer while keeping you comfortable during winters. Sids Boba Wrap

However, compared to Boba Wrap, Solly Baby has a steeper learning curve. Tying it up can be harder even if there are tutorials available online.

Moreover, the cloth can be too thin for some parents. It doesn’t stretch as well as Boba Wrap’s, so finding just the right tightness when creating the wrap can be more challenging.

Although Solly Baby’s fabric is sturdy, the thicker feel of Boba Wrap could be more reassuring for some parents. It is also more durable from wear-and-tear.

Since Solly Baby can only accommodate up to 25 pounds, you may not be able to use it if your baby turns 9 months old. On the other hand, Boba Wrap can accommodate up to 35 lbs, making it usable until your child becomes a year old.

Bottom Line

The Boba Wrap is an excellent investment, whether you are a first-time parent or not. You can use it on your newborn baby until they become toddlers.

The material is durable and elastic. It can keep you warm, so make sure you wear light clothing during hot days. It’s machine washable and dries quickly. You can use it in different ways. Furthermore, it’s easy to store them.
