Baby wraps are a great way for parents to carry their infants and toddlers.

The cloth tightly hugs your child around you, like another extra layer of clothing. In comparison to carriers, the wrap was made to distribute your baby’s weight evenly over your shoulders, hips, and back.

It’s beneficial both for you and your little one. It gives babies the support they need without sacrificing the parent’s comfort.

Whether you’re traveling, working at home, or you just need to run a few errands, Boba Wrap allows you to easily carry your child while you move around.

What is Boba Wrap? How To Tie The Boba Wrap

Boba Wrap was founded by husband and wife Elizabeth and Robert Antunovic. It started back in 2007 when their family was traveling across Europe. Since then, they’ve now grown to accommodate tens of thousands of customers across the world.

They’re even certified as hip-healthy for babies by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. The wrap can help position the baby so that their spine and hips are well protected.

Their first product — the Boba Wrap, is a type of stretchable fabric intended to carry the baby. This allows the babies to be as close as possible with their parents or caregivers. The baby will be able to embrace closely to their parent’s chest, giving them the warmth and comfort they need.

A parent’s scent is one of the most comforting things for a baby. Top it off with getting warmth and hearing your heartbeat, and you’ll have one happy baby.

It is ergonomic and breastfeeding-friendly. You can still use them even if your child is already a toddler but they work best when used in newborns. Aside from Boba Wraps, they also offer Boba Carriers as well as accessories.

If you never had experience how to tie baby wraps, their website also offers wrap tutorials and tips.

What is Boba Wrap made of?

Boba Wrap is made from a blend of fabric having 5% Spandex and 95% cotton. These two materials make it stretchable and soft.

For reference, the Boba Wrap is 5.5 yards long. Even though it’s stretchable, it is not as elastic as other substances, which is just fine since it’s enough to carry your baby. The best thing about this is that even with repeated use, it will not snag. You will be able to use the wrap until your child reaches 35 pounds. Some parents found no problems when they it on their toddlers.

Although the fabric is breathable, the blend of cotton and spandex can make it too warm to wear during the hottest days of summer. Otherwise, it is perfect to be used outside in colder weather. It provides you and your child enough warmth. If you are intending to use it during summer, just make sure your child is wearing light clothing.

Another note about the material is that it makes the wrapping easy to clean. Additionally, it dries quickly, and it is easy to put it on your bag when you are not using it. It doesn’t take up too much space like the other things in your baby bag.

Boba Wrap gives you 11 options. You can select from 9 different colors and 2 prints.

Colors include light gray, bloom, vintage blue, sangria, navy blue, dark blue, and dark grey. If you’re not into plain colours, they’ve included a wrap with polka-dotted prints and another one with rainbow patterns.

How does it fare to other baby wraps?

Boba Wrap aims to provide comfort to the parent and the child without needing to sacrifice quality and durability. However, Boba Wrap isn’t the only baby wrap that offers these. It can be tough to choose, especially if you have a baby to look after.

In this section, we’ll have a look at how Boba Wrap performs against other competitors. With this review, we selected two of the most popular — Moby Wrap and Solly Baby.

Boba Wrap vs. Moby Wrap

The Moby Wrap is made of 100% cotton and is approximately 6.6 yards long. It can carry babies that weigh from 8 pounds to 35 lbs. It can also be machine washed.

The cotton makes the wrapping more breathable and comfortable during warm days. It can stretch too, so you can use it until your infant becomes a toddler.

Moby Wrap also enables parents to configure the wrapping in four different ways. This makes it more accommodating as your child grows. It is possible to use Moby Wrap to carry them facing inwards, at the front, or on the hips.

If you compare the material, Moby Wrap is more comfortable when it comes to breathability. Concerning thickness, the Boba Wrap is thicker compared to the Moby Wrap. Although both are durable, if you’re using it during the hot summer months, Moby Wrap would be more comfortable.

However, the Moby Wrap does not have much room for stretchability compared to Boba Wrap. Once you put inside the baby in the wrap, the whole thing easily stretches if you use the Boba Wrap instead. It is possible to tie it as tight as possible and it wouldn’t be much of a problem. This is much easier to deal with compared to Moby Wrap, where you have to tie it just right since it will not stretch as much. Plus-sized parents will also find the Boba Wrap more accomodating. It is also easier to use as your child develops.

Additionally, Boba Wrap’s weight range accommodates babies from 5 pounds up to 35 pounds. On the other hand, Moby Wrap ranges from 8 pounds to 35 pounds. The stretchability factor of Boba Wrap makes it possible to be used by infants that are beyond 35 lbs.

Both products are great and both have very good strong points. But if you’re looking for something more versatile, we’d recommend Boba Wrap.

Boba Wrap vs. Solly Baby

Solly Baby is another wrap carrier which has become popular over recent years. They’re also recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for being hip-healthy. The same as Boba Wrap, this one is at 5.5 yards. It may carry up to 25 pounds.

The material is made of 100% Lenzing Modal. For those people who aren’t familiar with the fabric, it is made from Austrian Beechwood tree pulp. This Austrian fabric is then weaved and processed in L.A.

Lenzing Modal is much more breathable compared to cotton. It can circulate air better than other fabrics as it’s lighter. It’s also moisture-wicking, so it can keep you cool during summer while keeping you comfortable during winters. How To Tie The Boba Wrap

However, compared to Boba Wrap, Solly Baby has a steeper learning curve. Tying can be harder even if there are tutorials available online.

Additionally, the fabric can be too thin for some parents. It doesn’t stretch as well as Boba Wrap’s, so finding just the right tightness when creating the wrap can be more challenging.

Though Solly Baby’s fabric is sturdy, the thicker feel of Boba Wrap could be more reassuring for some parents. It’s also more long-lasting from wear-and-tear.

Since Solly Baby can only accommodate up to 25 pounds, you may not have the ability to use it if your baby turns 9 months old. On the other hand, Boba Wrap can accommodate up to 35 pounds, which makes it usable until your child becomes a year old.

Pros & Cons

To help you decide whether Boba Wrap is suitable for you, we’ve summarised the advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages

  • Elastic
  • Durable
  • Affordable
  • Usable even by 1-year-old babies
  • Recommended for plus-sized parents

Disadvantages

  • Wrapping has a learning curve

  • Petite-sized parents will find it long

Bottom Line

Whether you’re a first-time parent or not, the Boba Wrap is an excellent investment. You can use it on your newborn baby until they become toddlers.

The material is durable and elastic. Because it’s 5% spandex, it can make you feel warm. Remember to wear light clothing on hot days. It’s machine washable and dries fast. You can use it in various ways. Additionally, it’s easy to store them.

Even though it is not perfect, the benefits of using Boba Wrap outweigh its flaws. It is durable compared to other infant wraps. It’s comfortable not just for your baby but for you also. Say goodbye to backaches! How To Tie The Boba Wrap
