What is Boba Wrap? How Long Of Cloth For A Boba Baby Wrap

Boba Wrap was founded by husband and wife Elizabeth and Robert Antunovic. It started back in 2007 when their family was traveling across Europe. Now, it’s grown to accommodate tens of thousands of customers across the world.

They are even certified as hip-healthy for babies by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. The baby’s spine and hips are well protected because the wrap helps properly position them.

Their first product — the Boba Wrap, is a type of stretchable fabric meant to carry the baby. This allows the babies to be as near as possible with their parents or caregivers. The baby will be able to embrace closely to their parent’s chest, giving them the warmth and comfort they need.

A parent’s scent is one of the most comforting things for a baby. Top it off with getting heat and hearing your heartbeat, and you’ll have one happy baby.

It is ergonomic and breastfeeding-friendly. They’re best used on newborns, but you can still use them if your child is a toddler. Aside from Boba Wraps, they also offer Boba Carriers as well as accessories.

If you never had experience how to tie baby wraps, their website also provides wrap tutorials and tips.

What is Boba Wrap made of?

Boba Wrap is made of a blend of cloth having 5% Spandex and 95% cotton. Both of these materials make it stretchable and soft.

For reference, the Boba Wrap is about 5.5 yards long. Even though it’s stretchable, it’s not as elastic as other materials, which is just fine as it’s sufficient to carry your infant. The best thing about this is that even with repeated use, it will not snag. You will be able to use the wrapping until your child reaches 35 lbs. Some parents even have it on toddlers and found no issues.

It’s also breathable, but the mix of spandex can make it too hot to wear during the hottest days of summer. Otherwise, it is perfect to be used outside in colder weather. It provides you and your child enough warmth. Just make sure your child is wearing light clothing if you are intending to use it during summer.

Another note about the material is that it makes the wrap effortless to clean. Additionally, it dries quickly, and you can easily put it on your bag when you’re not using it. It doesn’t occupy too much space like the other things on your baby bag.

Boba Wrap offers you 11 options. You can select from 9 different colours and 2 prints.

Colors include light gray, bloom, vintage blue, sangria, navy blue, dark blue, and dark grey. If you’re not into plain colors, they have included a wrap with polka-dotted prints and another one with rainbow patterns.

How does it fare to other baby wraps?

Boba Wrap aims to provide comfort to the parent and the child without having to sacrifice durability and quality. However, Boba Wrap is not the sole baby wrap that offers these. If you have a baby to take care of, choosing which to go for can be tough.

In this section, we’ll have a look at how Boba Wrap performs against other competitors. With this review, we selected two of the most popular — Moby Wrap and Solly Baby.

Boba Wrap vs. Moby Wrap

The Moby Wrap is made of 100% cotton and is about 6.6 yards long. It can carry babies that weigh from 8 pounds to 35 pounds. It can also be machine washed.

The cotton makes the wrapping more breathable and comfortable during hot days. It can stretch too, so you can use it until your baby becomes a toddler.

Moby Wrap also allows parents to configure the wrapping in four unique ways. This makes it more accommodating as your child develops. It is possible to use Moby Wrap to carry them facing inwards, at the front, or on the hips.

If you compare the material, Moby Wrap is more comfortable in terms of breathability. In terms of thickness, the Boba Wrap is thicker compared to the Moby Wrap. Although both are durable, if you’re using it during the hot summer months, Moby Wrap would be more comfortable.

However, the Moby Wrap doesn’t have a lot of room for stretchability compared to Boba Wrap. As soon as you put inside the baby in the wrap, the whole thing easily stretches if you use the Boba Wrap instead. You can tie it as tight as you can and it wouldn’t be much of a problem. This is easier to deal with compared to using Moby Wrap, where you must tie it just right because it doesn’t stretch as much. Plus-sized parents will also find the Boba Wrap more accomodating. It is also easier to use as your child grows.

Furthermore, Boba Wrap’s weight range accommodates babies from 5 pounds up to 35 pounds. On the other hand, Moby Wrap ranges from 8 pounds to 35 pounds. The stretchability factor of Boba Wrap makes it possible to be used by infants that are beyond 35 pounds.

Both products are great and both have very good strong points. But if you’re looking for something more versatile, we’d recommend Boba Wrap.

Boba Wrap vs. Solly Baby

Solly Baby is another wrap carrier which has become popular over recent years. They are also recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for being hip-healthy. The length is at 5.5 yards, just like Boba Wrap.

The material is made of 100% Lenzing Modal. For those who aren’t familiar with the fabric, it’s made from Austrian Beechwood tree pulp. This Austrian fabric is then weaved and processed in L.A.

Lenzing Modal is much more breathable compared to cotton. It can circulate air better than most fabrics as it’s lighter. It’s also moisture-wicking, so it can keep you cool during summer while keeping you comfortable during winters. How Long Of Cloth For A Boba Baby Wrap

However, compared to Boba Wrap, Solly Baby has a steeper learning curve. Tying can be harder even if there are tutorials available on the internet.

Additionally, the fabric can be too thin for some parents. It doesn’t stretch as well as Boba Wrap’s, so finding just the right tightness when creating the wrap can be more challenging.

Although Solly Baby’s fabric is sturdy, the thicker feel of Boba Wrap might be more reassuring for some parents. It’s also more long-lasting from wear-and-tear.

Since Solly Baby can only accommodate up to 25 pounds, you might not be able to use it when your baby turns 9 weeks old. On the other hand, Boba Wrap can accommodate up to 35 lbs, making it usable until your child becomes a year old.

Pros & Cons

  • Usable even by 1-year-old babies

Bottom Line

The Boba Wrap is an excellent investment, whether you are a first-time parent or not. You can use it on your newborn baby until they become toddlers.

The material is durable and elastic. Because it’s 5% spandex, it can make you feel warm. Make sure you and your baby wear light clothing on hot days. It’s machine washable and dries quickly. You may use it in various ways. Additionally, it’s easy to store them.

Although it is not perfect, the advantages of using Boba Wrap outweigh its defects. It is durable compared to other baby wraps. It’s comfortable not only for your baby but for you also. Say goodbye to backaches! How Long Of Cloth For A Boba Baby Wrap
