Baby wraps are a way for parents to carry their infants and toddlers.

The cloth tightly hugs your child around you, like another extra layer of clothing. Compared to carriers, the wrap is designed to distribute your baby’s weight evenly over your shoulders, hips, and back.

It is beneficial both for you and your little one. It gives babies the support they need without sacrificing the parent’s comfort.

Boba Wrap allows you to easily carry your child while you’re traveling or while you work at home, or whenever you simply have to run a few errands.

If you want to find out more about Boba Wrap, then keep reading. We will be reviewing what makes it unique and how it fares against other brands.

What is Boba Wrap? Breastfeeding In A Boba Wrap

Boba Wrap was founded by husband and wife Elizabeth and Robert Antunovic. It began back in 2007 when their family was traveling across Europe. Since then, they’ve now grown to accommodate tens of thousands of customers across the world.

They’re even certified as hip-healthy for infants by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. The wrap can help position the baby so that their spine and hips are well protected.

Their first product — the Boba Wrap, is a type of stretchable fabric intended to carry the infant. This allows the babies to be as close as possible with their parents or caregivers. The babies will get the warmth and comfort they need as they embrace closely to their parent’s chest.

A parent’s scent is among the most comforting things for a baby. Top it off with getting heat and hearing your heartbeat, and you’ll have one happy baby.

It’s ergonomic and breastfeeding-friendly. You can still use them even if your child is a toddler but they work best when used in newborns. Apart from Boba Wraps, they also offer Boba Carriers as well as accessories.

The website also provides wrap tutorials and tips, which is helpful for people who’ve never tried using baby wraps.

What is Boba Wrap made of?

Boba Wrap is made from a blend of fabric having 5% Spandex and 95% cotton. These two materials make it soft and pliable.

For reference, the Boba Wrap is 5.5 yards long. Even though it’s stretchable, it’s not as elastic as other substances, which is just fine as it’s enough to carry your infant. The best thing about this is that even with repeated use, it will not snag. You will be able to use the wrapping until your child reaches 35 lbs. Some parents found no problems when they tried it on their toddlers.

Although the fabric is breathable, the mix of cotton and spandex can make it too warm to wear during the hottest days of summer. Otherwise, it is perfect to be used outside in colder weather. It provides you and your child enough warmth. Just make sure your child is wearing light clothing if you are planning to use it during summer.

Another note about the material is that it makes the wrapping easy to clean. It also dries quickly, and it is easy to place it on your bag when you are not using it. It doesn’t take up too much space like the other items in your baby bag.

Boba Wrap offers you 11 options. You can select from 9 different colors and 2 prints.

Colors include light gray, bloom, vintage blue, sangria, navy blue, dark blue, and dark grey. If you are not into plain colors, they’ve included a wrap with polka-dotted prints and another one with rainbow patterns.

How does it fare to other wraps?

Boba Wrap aims to provide comfort to the parent and the child without having to sacrifice durability and quality. However, Boba Wrap is not the sole baby wrap that offers these. If you have a baby to take care of, choosing which to go for can be tough.

In this section, we’ll take a look at how Boba Wrap performs against other competitors. For this review, we selected two of the most popular — Moby Wrap and Solly Baby.

Boba Wrap vs. Moby Wrap

The Moby Wrap is made of 100% cotton and is approximately 6.6 yards long. It can carry babies that weigh from 8 pounds to 35 lbs. It can also be machine washed.

The cotton makes the wrapping more breathable and comfortable during warm days. Because it’s also stretchable, you can use it until your baby becomes a toddler.

Moby Wrap also allows parents to configure the wrapping in four unique ways. This makes it more accommodating as your child develops. It is possible to use Moby Wrap to carry them facing inwards, at the front, or on the hips.

If you compare the material, Moby Wrap is more comfortable in terms of breathability. Concerning thickness, the Boba Wrap is thicker compared to the Moby Wrap. Although both are durable, if you’re using it during the hot summer months, Moby Wrap would be more comfortable.

However, the Moby Wrap doesn’t have much room for stretchability in comparison to Boba Wrap. As soon as you put inside the baby in the wrap, the whole thing easily stretches if you use the Boba Wrap instead. It is possible to tie it as tight as possible and it wouldn’t be much of a problem. This is much easier to deal with compared to Moby Wrap, where you have to tie it just right because it will not stretch as much. Plus-sized parents will also find the Boba Wrap more accomodating. It is also easier to use as your child grows.

Additionally, Boba Wrap’s weight range accommodates babies from 5 pounds up to 35 pounds. On the other hand, Moby Wrap ranges from 8 pounds to 35 pounds. The stretchability factor of Boba Wrap makes it easy to be used by babies which are beyond 35 lbs.

Both products are good and both have very good strong points. But if you’re looking for something more versatile, we’d recommend Boba Wrap.

Boba Wrap vs. Solly Baby

Solly Baby is another wrap carrier which has become popular over recent years. They’re also recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for being hip-healthy. The length is at 5.5 yards, the same as Boba Wrap.

The material is made of 100% Lenzing Modal. For those people who aren’t familiar with the fabric, it is made from Austrian Beechwood tree pulp. This Austrian fabric is then weaved and processed in L.A.

Lenzing Modal is more breathable compared to cotton. It can circulate air better than most fabrics as it’s lighter. Additionally, it is moisture-wicking, so it can keep you cool during summer while keeping you comfortable during winters. Breastfeeding In A Boba Wrap

However, compared to Boba Wrap, Solly Baby has a steeper learning curve. Even if there are tutorials available online, tying it up can be harder than Boba Wrap.

Additionally, the fabric can be too thin for some parents. It doesn’t stretch as well as Boba Wrap’s, so finding just the perfect tightness when making the wrap can be more challenging.

Although Solly Baby’s fabric is sturdy, the thicker feel of Boba Wrap might be more reassuring for some parents. It’s also more durable from wear-and-tear.

Since Solly Baby can only accommodate up to 25 pounds, you may not have the ability to use it if your baby turns 9 weeks old. On the other hand, Boba Wrap can accommodate up to 35 pounds, making it usable until your child becomes a year old.

Bottom Line

Whether you’re a first-time parent or not, the Boba Wrap is an excellent investment. You can use it on your newborn baby until they become toddlers.

The material is durable and elastic. Because it’s 5% spandex, it can make you feel warm. Make sure you and your baby wear light clothing on hot days. It’s machine washable and dries quickly. You can use it in different ways. Furthermore, it’s easy to store them.

Even though it is not perfect, the advantages of using Boba Wrap outweigh its flaws. It’s durable compared to other baby wraps. It’s comfortable not just for your baby but for you also. Bid farewell to backaches! Breastfeeding In A Boba Wrap
