Boba Wrap Vs Solly Baby

boba-wrap-review

Baby wraps are a way for parents to carry their infants and toddlers.

The cloth tightly hugs your child around you, like another extra layer of clothing. Compared to carriers, the wrap is designed to distribute your child’s weight evenly over your shoulders, hips, and back.

It’s beneficial both for you and your child. It gives infants the support they need without sacrificing the parent’s comfort.

Whether you’re traveling, working at home, or you just have to run a few errands, Boba Wrap allows you to easily carry your child while you move around.

If you want to find out more about Boba Wrap, then keep reading. We will be reviewing what makes it unique and how it fares against other brands.

What is Boba Wrap? Boba Wrap Vs Solly Baby

Boba Wrap was founded by husband and wife Elizabeth and Robert Antunovic. It began back in 2007 when their family was traveling across Europe. Since then, they’ve now grown to accommodate tens of thousands of customers throughout the world.

They are even certified as hip-healthy for babies by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. The wrap can help properly position the baby so that their spine and hips are well protected.

Their first product — the Boba Wrap, is a sort of stretchable fabric intended to carry the baby. This allows the babies to be as near as possible with their parents or caregivers. The babies will get the warmth and comfort they need as they embrace closely to their parent’s chest.

A parent’s scent is one of the most reassuring things for a baby. Top it off with getting warmth and hearing your heartbeat, and you will have one happy baby.

It’s ergonomic and breastfeeding-friendly. You can still use them even if your child is a toddler but they work best when used in newborns. Apart from Boba Wraps, they also offer Boba Carriers as well as accessories.

If you never had experience how to tie baby wraps, their website also offers wrap tutorials and tips.

What is Boba Wrap made of?

Boba Wrap is made of a blend of fabric having 5% Spandex and 95% cotton. These two materials make it stretchable and soft.

For reference, the Boba Wrap is about 5.5 yards long. Even though it’s stretchable, it is not as elastic as other substances, which is just fine since it’s sufficient to carry your infant. The best thing about this is that even with repeated use, it doesn’t snag. You’ll have the ability to use the wrap until your child reaches 35 lbs. Some parents even have tried it on toddlers and found no problems.

Although the fabric is breathable, the mix of cotton and spandex can make it too warm to wear during the hottest days of summer. Otherwise, it is perfect to be used outside in colder weather. It provides you and your kid enough warmth. If you are planning to use it during summer, just make sure that your child is wearing light clothing.

Cleaning is also easy because of the material. Additionally, it dries quickly, and it is easy to put it on your bag when you are not using it. It doesn’t take up too much space like the other items on your baby bag.

Boba Wrap offers you 11 options. You can select from 9 different colors and 2 prints.

Colors include light gray, bloom, vintage blue, sangria, navy blue, dark blue, and dark gray. If you’re not into plain colors, they have included a wrap with polka-dotted prints and another one with rainbow patterns.

How does it fare to other wraps?

Boba Wrap aims to offer comfort to the parent and the child without needing to sacrifice durability and quality. However, Boba Wrap isn’t the sole baby wrap that offers these. If you have a baby to look after, choosing which to go for can be hard.

In this section, we’ll take a look at how Boba Wrap performs against other competitors. With this review, we selected two of the most popular — Moby Wrap and Solly Baby.

Boba Wrap vs. Moby Wrap

The Moby Wrap is made of 100% cotton and is about 6.6 yards long. It can carry babies that weigh from 8 pounds to 35 pounds. It can also be machine washed.

The cotton makes the wrapping more breathable and comfortable during hot days. It can stretch also, so that you can use it until your infant becomes a toddler.

Moby Wrap also enables parents to configure the wrapping in four different ways. This makes it more accommodating as your child grows. You can use Moby Wrap to carry them facing inwards, at the front, or on the hips.

If you compare the material, Moby Wrap is more comfortable when it comes to breathability. Concerning thickness, the Boba Wrap is thicker compared to the Moby Wrap. The latter is more suitable to be used during the hot summer months so that you and your baby will be comfortable.

However, the Moby Wrap does not have much room for stretchability in comparison to Boba Wrap. If you use the Boba Wrap, you can tie it a tight as you can because it will easily stretch as soon as you put the baby in the wrap. This is easier to deal with compared to Moby Wrap, where you must tie it just right since it will not stretch as much. Plus-sized parents will also find the Boba Wrap more accomodating. It’s also easier to use as your child develops.

Furthermore, Boba Wrap’s weight range accommodates babies from 5 pounds up to 35 lbs. On the other hand, Moby Wrap ranges from 8 pounds to 35 lbs. The stretchability factor of Boba Wrap makes it possible to be used by babies that are beyond 35 pounds.

Both products are great and both have very good strong points. But if you’re looking for something more versatile, we’d recommend Boba Wrap.

Boba Wrap vs. Solly Baby

Solly Baby is another wrap carrier that has become popular over recent years. They’re also recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for being hip-healthy. The same as Boba Wrap, this one is at 5.5 yards. It can carry up to 25 lbs.

The material is made of 100% Lenzing Modal. For those people who aren’t familiar with the fabric, it’s made from Austrian Beechwood tree pulp. This Austrian fabric is then weaved and processed in L.A.

Compared to cotton, Lenzing Modal is much more breathable. It can circulate air better than most fabrics as it’s lighter. It’s also moisture-wicking, so it can keep you cool during summer while keeping you comfortable during winters. Boba Wrap Vs Solly Baby

However, in comparison to Boba Wrap, Solly Baby has a steeper learning curve. Tying can be harder even if there are tutorials available on the internet.

Additionally, the cloth can be too thin for some parents. Finding the perfect tightness when tying the wrap can be challenging too since it doesn’t stretch as well as Boba Wrap’s.

Though Solly Baby’s fabric is sturdy, the thicker feel of Boba Wrap could be more reassuring for some parents. It is also more long-lasting from wear-and-tear.

Since Solly Baby can only accommodate up to 25 pounds, you may not be able to use it if your baby turns 9 months old. On the other hand, Boba Wrap can accommodate up to 35 lbs, which makes it usable until your child becomes a year old.

Pros & Cons

To help you decide whether Boba Wrap is suitable for you, we’ve summarised the advantages and disadvantages.

  • Elastic

  • Usable even by 1-year-old infants
  • Recommended for plus-sized parents

Bottom Line

Whether you are a first-time parent or not, the Boba Wrap is an excellent investment. You can use it on your newborn baby until they become toddlers.

The material is durable and elastic. Because it’s 5% spandex, it can make you feel warm. Make sure you and your baby wear light clothing on hot days. It’s machine washable and dries quickly. You may use it in different ways. Additionally, it’s easy to store them.

Although it is not perfect, the benefits of using Boba Wrap outweigh its flaws. It is durable compared to other infant wraps. It’s comfortable not only for your baby but for you as well. Say goodbye to backaches! Boba Wrap Vs Solly Baby
