What is Boba Wrap? Boba Wrap Used

Boba Wrap was founded by husband and wife Elizabeth and Robert Antunovic. It started back in 2007 when their family was traveling across Europe. Since then, they’ve now grown to accommodate tens of thousands of customers throughout the world.

They’re even certified as hip-healthy for infants by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. The wrap can help position the baby so that their spine and hips are well protected.

Their first product — the Boba Wrap, is a sort of stretchable fabric meant to carry the infant. This allows the babies to be as close as possible with their parents or caregivers. The baby will be able to snuggle closely to their parent’s chest, giving them the warmth and comfort they need.

A parent’s scent is among the most comforting things for a baby. Top it off with getting warmth and hearing your heartbeat, and you will have one happy baby.

It’s ergonomic and breastfeeding-friendly. They are best used on newborns, but you can still use them if your child is a toddler. Apart from Boba Wraps, they also offer Boba Carriers as well as accessories.

If you never had experience how to tie baby wraps, their website also provides wrap tutorials and tips.

What is Boba Wrap made of?

Boba Wrap is made from a blend of fabric having 5% Spandex and 95% cotton. Both of these materials make it soft and pliable.

For reference, the Boba Wrap is 5.5 yards long. Although it’s stretchable, it’s not as elastic as other materials, which is just fine as it’s enough to carry your infant. The best thing about this is that even with repeated use, it will not snag. You’ll have the ability to use the wrapping until your child reaches 35 lbs. Some parents found no problems when they it on their toddlers.

It’s also breathable, but the mix of spandex can make it too warm to wear during the hottest days of summer. Otherwise, it’s perfect to be used outside in colder weather. It provides you and your kid enough warmth. Just make sure your child is wearing light clothing if you are planning to use it during summer.

Cleaning is also effortless because of the material. Additionally, it dries quickly, and you can easily place it on your bag when you’re not using it. It doesn’t occupy too much space like the other things in your baby bag.

Boba Wrap gives you 11 options. You can select from 9 different colours and 2 prints.

Colors include light grey, bloom, vintage blue, sangria, navy blue, dark blue, and dark gray. If you’re not into plain colors, they’ve included a wrap with polka-dotted prints and another one with rainbow patterns.

How does it fare to other baby wraps?

Boba Wrap aims to provide comfort to the parent and the child without needing to sacrifice durability and quality. However, Boba Wrap isn’t the sole baby wrap that offers these. It can be tough to choose, especially for those who have a baby to take care of.

In this section, we will have a look at how Boba Wrap performs against other competitors. For this review, we selected two of the most popular — Moby Wrap and Solly Baby.

Boba Wrap vs. Moby Wrap

The Moby Wrap is made of 100% cotton and is about 6.6 yards long. It can carry babies that weigh from 8 pounds to 35 lbs. It can also be machine washed.

The cotton makes the wrapping more breathable and comfortable during hot days. Because it’s also stretchable, you can use it until your baby becomes a toddler.

Moby Wrap also enables parents to configure the wrapping in four unique ways. This makes it more accommodating as your child develops. You can use Moby Wrap to carry them facing inwards, at the front, or on the hips.

If you compare the material, Moby Wrap is more comfortable in terms of breathability. In terms of thickness, the Boba Wrap is thicker than the Moby Wrap. The latter is more suitable to be used during the hot summer months so that you and your infant will be comfortable.

However, the Moby Wrap doesn’t have much room for stretchability in comparison to Boba Wrap. As soon as you put inside the baby in the wrap, the whole thing easily stretches if you use the Boba Wrap instead. You can tie it as tight as possible and it wouldn’t be much of a problem. This is easier to deal with compared to using Moby Wrap, where you have to tie it just right since it will not stretch as much. Plus-sized parents also find the Boba Wrap more accomodating. It’s also easier to use as your child develops.

Furthermore, Boba Wrap’s weight range accommodates babies from 5 pounds up to 35 lbs. On the other hand, Moby Wrap ranges from 8 pounds to 35 pounds. The stretchability factor of Boba Wrap makes it easy to be used by infants which are beyond 35 pounds.

Both products are great and both have very good strong points. But if you’re looking for something more versatile, we’d recommend Boba Wrap.

Boba Wrap vs. Solly Baby

Solly Baby is another wrap carrier that has become popular over recent years. They’re also recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for being hip-healthy. The same as Boba Wrap, this one is at 5.5 yards. It can carry up to 25 lbs.

The material is made of 100% Lenzing Modal. For those who aren’t familiar with the fabric, it is made from Austrian Beechwood tree pulp. This Austrian fabric is then weaved and processed in L.A.

Lenzing Modal is more breathable compared to cotton. It can circulate air better than most fabrics since it’s lighter. It’s also moisture-wicking, so it can keep you cool during summer while keeping you comfortable during winters. Boba Wrap Used

However, in comparison to Boba Wrap, Solly Baby has a steeper learning curve. Tying can be harder even if there are tutorials available on the internet.

Moreover, the fabric can be too thin for some parents. It doesn’t stretch as well as Boba Wrap’s, so finding just the right tightness when making the wrap can be more challenging.

Although Solly Baby’s fabric is sturdy, the thicker feel of Boba Wrap could be more reassuring for some parents. It’s also more durable from wear-and-tear.

Since Solly Baby can only accommodate up to 25 pounds, you may not be able to use it if your baby turns 9 months old. On the other hand, Boba Wrap can accommodate up to 35 pounds, making it usable until your child becomes a year old.

Pros & Cons

To help you decide whether Boba Wrap is suitable for you, we’ve summarised the pros and cons.

Advantages

  • Fabric is soft
  • Elastic
  • Durable
  • Affordable
  • Usable even by 1-year-old babies
  • Recommended for plus-sized parents

Disadvantages

  • Wrapping has a learning curve
  • Fabric can be too hot during summer
  • Petite-sized parents will find it too long

Bottom Line

The Boba Wrap is an excellent investment, whether you are a first-time parent or not. You can use it on your newborn baby until they become toddlers.

The material is durable and elastic. Because it’s 5% spandex, it can make you feel warm. Make sure you and your baby wear light clothing on hot days. It’s machine washable and dries quickly. You can use it in various ways. Furthermore, it’s easy to store them.

Although it is not perfect, the advantages of using Boba Wrap outweigh its flaws. It is durable compared to other baby wraps. It’s comfortable not just for your baby but for you also. Bid farewell to backaches! Boba Wrap Used
