Baby wraps are a great way for parents to carry their babies and toddlers.

The fabric tightly hugs your child around you, like another additional layer of clothing. In comparison to carriers, the wrap is designed to distribute your baby’s weight evenly over your shoulders, hips, and back.

It’s beneficial both for you and your child. It gives infants the support they need without sacrificing the parent’s comfort.

Boba Wrap allows you to easily carry your child while you’re traveling or while you work at home, or whenever you just have to run a few errands.

If you want to find out more about Boba Wrap, we’ll be reviewing its benefits and how different it is compared to other brands.

What is Boba Wrap? Boba Wrap Sling Tie

Boba Wrap was founded by husband and wife Elizabeth and Robert Antunovic. It started back in 2007 when their family was traveling across Europe. Since then, they’ve now grown to accommodate tens of thousands of customers throughout the world.

They are even certified as hip-healthy for infants by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. The baby’s spine and hips are well protected because the wrap helps position them.

Their first product — the Boba Wrap, is a sort of stretchable fabric intended to carry the baby. This allows the babies to be as close as possible with their parents or caregivers. The baby will be able to snuggle closely to their parent’s chest, giving them the warmth and comfort they need.

A parent’s scent is one of the most reassuring things for a baby. Top it off with getting warmth and hearing your heartbeat, and you will have one happy baby.

It is ergonomic and breastfeeding-friendly. They’re best used on newborns, but you can still use them if your child is already a toddler. Apart from Boba Wraps, they also offer Boba Carriers as well as accessories.

If you never had experience how to tie baby wraps, their website also provides wrap tutorials and tips.

What is Boba Wrap made of?

Boba Wrap is made of a blend of fabric having 5% Spandex and 95% cotton. Both of these materials make it soft and pliable.

For reference, the Boba Wrap is about 5.5 yards long. Although it is stretchable, it’s not as elastic as other materials, which is just fine since it’s sufficient to carry your infant. The best thing about this is that even with repeated use, it doesn’t snag. You will have the ability to use the wrapping until your child reaches 35 lbs. Some parents even have it on toddlers and found no problems.

Although the fabric is breathable, the mix of cotton and spandex can make it too hot to wear during the hottest days of summer. Otherwise, it is perfect to be used outside in colder weather. It provides you and your child enough warmth. If you are intending to use it during summer, just make sure your child is wearing light clothing.

Cleaning is also effortless because of the material. Additionally, it dries quickly, and you can easily place it on your bag when you’re not using it. It doesn’t occupy too much space like the other things in your baby bag.

Boba Wrap gives you 11 options. You can choose from 9 different colours and 2 prints.

Colors include light grey, bloom, vintage blue, sangria, navy blue, dark blue, and dark grey. If you are not into plain colors, they have included a wrap with polka-dotted prints and another one with rainbow patterns.

How does it fare to other wraps?

Boba Wrap aims to provide comfort to the parent and the child without needing to sacrifice quality and durability. However, Boba Wrap isn’t the sole baby wrap that offers these. For those who have a baby to look after, choosing which to go for can be hard.

In this section, we’ll have a look at how Boba Wrap performs against other competitors. With this review, we selected two of the most popular — Moby Wrap and Solly Baby.

Boba Wrap vs. Moby Wrap

The Moby Wrap is made of 100% cotton and is about 6.6 yards long. It can carry babies that weigh from 8 pounds to 35 lbs. It can also be machine washed.

The cotton makes the wrap more breathable and comfortable during hot days. It can stretch too, so you can use it until your infant becomes a toddler.

Moby Wrap also allows parents to configure the wrap in four different ways. This makes it more accommodating as your child develops. You can use Moby Wrap to carry them facing inwards, at the front, or on the hips.

If you compare the material, Moby Wrap is more comfortable in terms of breathability. In terms of thickness, the Boba Wrap is thicker than the Moby Wrap. Although both are durable, if you’re using it during the hot summer months, Moby Wrap would be more comfortable.

However, the Moby Wrap doesn’t have much room for stretchability compared to Boba Wrap. If you use the Boba Wrap, it is possible to tie it a tight as possible because it will easily stretch as soon as you put the baby in the wrap. This is much easier to deal with compared to Moby Wrap, where you have to tie it just right since it doesn’t stretch as much. Plus-sized parents will also find the Boba Wrap more accomodating. It is also easier to use as your child develops.

Furthermore, Boba Wrap’s weight range accommodates babies from 5 pounds up to 35 lbs. On the other hand, Moby Wrap ranges from 8 pounds to 35 pounds. The stretchability factor of Boba Wrap makes it easy to be used by infants which are beyond 35 pounds.

Both products are good and both have very good strong points. But if you’re looking for something more versatile, we’d recommend Boba Wrap.

Boba Wrap vs. Solly Baby

Another wrap carrier which has become popular over the recent years is Solly Baby. They’re also recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for being hip-healthy. The same as Boba Wrap, this one is at 5.5 yards. It may carry up to 25 lbs.

The material is made of 100% Lenzing Modal. For those people who aren’t familiar with the fabric, it is made from Austrian Beechwood tree pulp. This Austrian fabric is then weaved and processed in L.A.

Compared to cotton, Lenzing Modal is more breathable. It can circulate air better than other fabrics since it’s lighter. Additionally, it is moisture-wicking, so it can keep you cool during summer while keeping you comfortable during winters. Boba Wrap Sling Tie

However, compared to Boba Wrap, Solly Baby has a steeper learning curve. Even if there are tutorials available online, tying it up can be harder than Boba Wrap.

Additionally, the fabric can be too thin for some parents. It doesn’t stretch as well as Boba Wrap’s, so finding just the right tightness when creating the wrap can be more challenging.

Although Solly Baby’s fabric is sturdy, the thicker feel of Boba Wrap could be more reassuring for some parents. It is also more durable from wear-and-tear.

Since Solly Baby can only accommodate up to 25 pounds, you may not be able to use it when your baby turns 9 weeks old. On the other hand, Boba Wrap can accommodate up to 35 lbs, making it usable until your child becomes a year old.

Bottom Line

The Boba Wrap is an excellent investment, whether you are a first-time parent or not. You can use it on your newborn baby until they become toddlers.

The material is durable and elastic. Because it’s 5% spandex, it can make you feel warm. Remember to wear light clothing on hot days. It is machine washable and dries fast. You can use it in various ways. Furthermore, it’s easy to store them.
