Baby wraps are a great way for parents to carry their infants and toddlers.

The cloth tightly hugs your child around you, like another extra layer of clothing. Compared to carriers, the wrap was made to distribute your baby’s weight evenly over your shoulders, hips, and back.

It’s beneficial both for you and your child. It gives infants the support they need without sacrificing the parent’s comfort.

Whether you’re traveling, working at home, or you just have to run a few errands, Boba Wrap allows you to easily carry your child while you move around.

If you wish to find out more about Boba Wrap, then we’ll be reviewing its benefits and how different it is compared to other brands.

What is Boba Wrap? Boba Wrap Newborn How To

Boba Wrap was founded by husband and wife Elizabeth and Robert Antunovic. It started back in 2007 when their family was traveling across Europe. Since then, they’ve now grown to accommodate tens of thousands of customers across the globe.

They are even certified as hip-healthy for infants by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. The wrap can help properly position the baby so that their spine and hips are well protected.

Their first product — the Boba Wrap, is a type of stretchable fabric meant to carry the infant. This allows the babies to be as near as possible with their parents or caregivers. The baby will be able to embrace closely to their parent’s chest, giving them the warmth and comfort they need.

A parent’s scent is one of the most reassuring things for a baby. Top it off with getting warmth and hearing your heartbeat, and you’ll have one happy baby.

It’s ergonomic and breastfeeding-friendly. You can still use them even if your child is already a toddler but they work best when used in newborns. Aside from Boba Wraps, they also offer Boba Carriers and even accessories.

If you never had experience how to tie baby wraps, their website also provides wrap tutorials and tips.

What is Boba Wrap made of?

Boba Wrap is made of a blend of fabric having 5% Spandex and 95% cotton. Both of these materials make it soft and pliable.

For reference, the Boba Wrap is 5.5 yards long. Although it is stretchable, it is not as elastic as other substances, which is just fine since it’s sufficient to carry your baby. The best thing about this is that even with repeated use, it doesn’t snag. You’ll be able to use the wrapping until your child reaches 35 pounds. Some parents even have tried it on toddlers and found no problems.

Although the fabric is breathable, the blend of cotton and spandex can make it too hot to wear during the hottest days of summer. Otherwise, it’s perfect to be used outside in colder weather. It provides you and your kid enough warmth. Just make sure that your child is wearing light clothing if you are planning to use it during summer.

Another note about the material is that it makes the wrap easy to clean. It also dries quickly, and you can easily place it on your bag when you’re not using it. It doesn’t occupy too much space like the other items in your baby bag.

Boba Wrap gives you 11 options. You can select from 9 different colours and 2 prints.

Colors include light grey, bloom, vintage blue, sangria, navy blue, dark blue, and dark gray. If you’re not into plain colors, they’ve included a wrap with polka-dotted prints and another one with rainbow patterns.

How does it fare to other baby wraps?

Boba Wrap aims to provide comfort to the parent and the child without needing to sacrifice quality and durability. However, Boba Wrap isn’t the only baby wrap that offers these. If you have a baby to take care of, choosing which to go for can be hard.

In this section, we’ll take a look at how Boba Wrap performs against other competitors. For this review, we selected two of the most popular — Moby Wrap and Solly Baby.

Boba Wrap vs. Moby Wrap

The Moby Wrap is made of 100% cotton and is approximately 6.6 yards long. It can carry babies that weigh from 8 pounds to 35 pounds. It can also be machine washed.

The cotton makes the wrapping more breathable and comfortable during warm days. It can stretch too, so you can use it until your infant becomes a toddler.

Moby Wrap also enables parents to configure the wrap in four unique ways. This makes it more accommodating as your child develops. You can use Moby Wrap to carry them facing inwards, at the front, or on the hips.

If you compare the material, Moby Wrap is more comfortable when it comes to breathability. In terms of thickness, the Boba Wrap is thicker compared to the Moby Wrap. The latter is more suitable to be used during the hot summer months so that you and your baby will be comfortable.

However, the Moby Wrap doesn’t have a lot of room for stretchability compared to Boba Wrap. If you use the Boba Wrap, you can tie it a tight as possible because it will easily stretch as soon as you put the baby inside the wrap. This is much easier to deal with compared to using Moby Wrap, where you have to tie it just right because it doesn’t stretch as much. Plus-sized parents also find the Boba Wrap more accomodating. It is also easier to use as your child develops.

Additionally, Boba Wrap’s weight range accommodates babies from 5 pounds up to 35 pounds. On the other hand, Moby Wrap ranges from 8 pounds to 35 lbs. The stretchability factor of Boba Wrap makes it easy to be used by babies that are beyond 35 lbs.

Both products are good, but if you’re looking for a more versatile baby wrap, the Boba Wrap is more recommended.

Boba Wrap vs. Solly Baby

Another wrap carrier which has become popular over the recent years is Solly Baby. They are also recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for being hip-healthy. Just like Boba Wrap, this one is at 5.5 yards. It can carry up to 25 pounds.

The material is made of 100% Lenzing Modal. For those who aren’t familiar with the fabric, it is made from Austrian Beechwood tree pulp. This Austrian fabric is then weaved and processed in L.A.

Compared to cotton, Lenzing Modal is more breathable. It can circulate air better than most fabrics as it’s lighter. It’s also moisture-wicking, so it can keep you cool during summer while keeping you comfortable during winters. Boba Wrap Newborn How To

However, in comparison to Boba Wrap, Solly Baby has a steeper learning curve. Tying can be harder even if there are tutorials available online.

Additionally, the fabric can be too thin for some parents. It doesn’t stretch as well as Boba Wrap’s, so finding just the right tightness when creating the wrap can be more challenging.

Though Solly Baby’s fabric is sturdy, the thicker feel of Boba Wrap might be more reassuring for some parents. It’s also more long-lasting from wear-and-tear.

Since Solly Baby can only accommodate up to 25 pounds, you might not be able to use it if your baby turns 9 months old. On the other hand, Boba Wrap can accommodate up to 35 lbs, which makes it usable until your child becomes a year old.

Bottom Line

The material is durable and elastic. It can keep you warm, so make sure you wear light clothing during hot days. It is machine washable and dries quickly. You may use it in different ways. Furthermore, it’s easy to store them.
