The fabric tightly hugs your child around you, like another extra layer of clothing. The wrap was made to distribute your child’s weight evenly over your hips, back, and shoulders, whereas carriers often put the burden on the back.

It is beneficial both for you and your child. It gives babies the support they need without sacrificing the parent’s comfort.

Whether you’re traveling, working at home, or you simply need to run a few errands, Boba Wrap allows you to easily carry your child while you move around.

What is Boba Wrap? Boba Infant Wrap

Boba Wrap was founded by husband and wife Elizabeth and Robert Antunovic. It began back in 2007 when their family was traveling across Europe. Now, it’s grown to accommodate thousands of customers across the globe.

They’re even certified as hip-healthy for infants by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. The wrap can help properly position the baby so that their spine and hips are well protected.

Their first product — the Boba Wrap, is a sort of stretchable fabric intended to carry the infant. This allows the babies to be as close as possible with their parents or caregivers. The baby will be able to snuggle closely to their parent’s chest, giving them the warmth and comfort they need.

A parent’s scent is one of the most reassuring things for a baby. Top it off with getting warmth and hearing your heartbeat, and you will have one happy baby.

It’s ergonomic and breastfeeding-friendly. You can still use them even if your child is a toddler but they work best when used in newborns. Apart from Boba Wraps, they also offer Boba Carriers and even accessories.

If you never had experience how to tie baby wraps, their website also offers wrap tutorials and tips.

What is Boba Wrap made of?

Boba Wrap is made from a blend of cloth having 5% Spandex and 95% cotton. These two materials make it stretchable and soft.

For reference, the Boba Wrap is 5.5 yards long. Although it is stretchable, it’s not as elastic as other substances, which is just fine since it’s enough to carry your baby. The best thing about this is that even with repeated use, it doesn’t snag. You’ll have the ability to use the wrap until your child reaches 35 pounds. Some parents found no issues when they tried it on their toddlers.

It’s also breathable, but the mix of spandex can make it too hot to wear during the hottest days of summer. Otherwise, it is perfect to be used outside in colder weather. It provides you and your kid enough warmth. Just make sure that your child is wearing light clothing if you are intending to use it during summer.

Another note about the material is that it makes the wrap easy to clean. It also dries quickly, and you can easily put it on your bag when you are not using it. It doesn’t take up too much space like the other items in your baby bag.

Boba Wrap gives you 11 options. You can choose from 9 different colors and 2 prints.

Colors include light gray, bloom, vintage blue, sangria, navy blue, dark blue, and dark grey. If you’re not into plain colours, they’ve included a wrap with polka-dotted prints and another one with rainbow patterns.

How does it fare to other wraps?

Boba Wrap aims to offer comfort to the parent and the child without having to sacrifice quality and durability. However, Boba Wrap isn’t the sole baby wrap that offers these. It can be hard to choose, especially for those who have a baby to look after.

In this section, we’ll have a look at how Boba Wrap performs against other competitors. For this review, we selected two of the most popular — Moby Wrap and Solly Baby.

Boba Wrap vs. Moby Wrap

The Moby Wrap is made of 100% cotton and is approximately 6.6 yards long. It can carry babies that weigh from 8 pounds to 35 lbs. It can also be machine washed.

The cotton makes the wrap more breathable and comfortable during warm days. It can stretch also, so you can use it until your infant becomes a toddler.

Moby Wrap also allows parents to configure the wrapping in four unique ways. This makes it more accommodating as your child grows. You can use Moby Wrap to carry them facing inwards, at the front, or on the hips.

If you compare the material, Moby Wrap is more comfortable when it comes to breathability. In terms of thickness, the Boba Wrap is thicker compared to the Moby Wrap. The latter is more suitable to be used during the hot summer months so that you and your infant will be comfortable.

However, the Moby Wrap doesn’t have much room for stretchability in comparison to Boba Wrap. As soon as you put inside the baby in the wrap, the whole thing easily stretches if you use the Boba Wrap instead. It is possible to tie it as tight as you can and it wouldn’t be much of a problem. This is much easier to deal with compared to using Moby Wrap, where you have to tie it just right since it doesn’t stretch as much. Plus-sized parents will also find the Boba Wrap more accomodating. It’s also easier to use as your child grows.

Furthermore, Boba Wrap’s weight range accommodates babies from 5 pounds up to 35 pounds. On the other hand, Moby Wrap ranges from 8 pounds to 35 pounds. The stretchability factor of Boba Wrap makes it possible to be used by babies that are beyond 35 lbs.

Both products are good and both have very good strong points. But if you’re looking for something more versatile, we’d recommend Boba Wrap.

Boba Wrap vs. Solly Baby

Solly Baby is another wrap carrier which has become popular over recent years. They are also recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for being hip-healthy. The same as Boba Wrap, this one is at 5.5 yards. It may carry up to 25 pounds.

The material is made of 100% Lenzing Modal. For those who aren’t familiar with the fabric, it’s made from Austrian Beechwood tree pulp. This Austrian fabric is then weaved and processed in L.A.

Compared to cotton, Lenzing Modal is much more breathable. It can circulate air better than most fabrics since it’s lighter. Additionally, it is moisture-wicking, so it can keep you cool during summer while keeping you comfortable during winters. Boba Infant Wrap

However, in comparison to Boba Wrap, Solly Baby has a steeper learning curve. Even if there are tutorials available on the internet, tying it up can be harder than Boba Wrap.

Moreover, the cloth can be too thin for some parents. Finding the perfect tightness when tying the wrap can be challenging too since it doesn’t stretch as well as Boba Wrap’s.

Although Solly Baby’s fabric is sturdy, the thicker feel of Boba Wrap might be more reassuring for some parents. It is also more long-lasting from wear-and-tear.

Since Solly Baby can only accommodate up to 25 pounds, you might not be able to use it if your baby turns 9 months old. On the other hand, Boba Wrap can accommodate up to 35 pounds, making it usable until your child becomes a year old.

Pros & Cons

  • Elastic
  • Durable
  • Affordable
  • Usable even by 1-year-old infants
  • Recommended for plus-sized parents

Bottom Line

The Boba Wrap is an excellent investment, whether you are a first-time parent or not. You can use it on your newborn baby until they become toddlers.

The material is durable and elastic. Because it’s 5% spandex, it can make you feel warm. Remember to wear light clothing on hot days. It is machine washable and dries quickly. You can use it in various ways. Additionally, it’s easy to store them.

Although it’s not perfect, the benefits of using Boba Wrap outweigh its defects. It’s durable compared to other infant wraps. It’s comfortable not just for your baby but for you as well. Bid farewell to backaches! Boba Infant Wrap
