Baby wraps are a great way for parents to carry their babies and toddlers.

The fabric tightly hugs your child around you, like another additional layer of clothing. Compared to carriers, the wrap is designed to distribute your child’s weight evenly over your shoulders, hips, and back.

It is beneficial both for you and your little one. It gives babies the support they need without sacrificing the parent’s comfort.

Boba Wrap allows you to easily carry your child while you’re traveling or while you work at home, or when you simply need to run a few errands.

If you wish to know more about Boba Wrap, then keep reading. We will be reviewing what makes it unique and how it fares against other brands.

What is Boba Wrap? Boba Baby Wrap Preemie

Boba Wrap was founded by husband and wife Elizabeth and Robert Antunovic. It began back in 2007 when their family was traveling across Europe. Since then, they’ve now grown to accommodate thousands of customers throughout the globe.

They are even certified as hip-healthy for babies by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. The baby’s spine and hips are well protected because the wrap helps properly position them.

Their first product — the Boba Wrap, is a type of stretchable fabric intended to carry the infant. This allows the babies to be as close as possible with their parents or caregivers. The baby will be able to snuggle closely to their parent’s chest, giving them the warmth and comfort they need.

A parent’s scent is one of the most reassuring things for a baby. Top it off with getting heat and hearing your heartbeat, and you will have one happy baby.

It is ergonomic and breastfeeding-friendly. They are best used on newborns, but you can still use them if your child is a toddler. Apart from Boba Wraps, they also offer Boba Carriers and even accessories.

The website also offers wrap tutorials and tips, which can be helpful for those who’ve never tried using baby wraps.

What is Boba Wrap made of?

Boba Wrap is made of a blend of cloth having 5% Spandex and 95% cotton. Both of these materials make it soft and pliable.

For reference, the Boba Wrap is about 5.5 yards long. Although it is stretchable, it is not as elastic as other substances, which is just fine as it’s enough to carry your baby. The best thing about this is that even with repeated use, it doesn’t snag. You’ll be able to use the wrapping until your child reaches 35 lbs. Some parents found no problems when they it on their toddlers.

It’s also breathable, but the blend of spandex can make it too warm to wear during the hottest days of summer. Otherwise, it is perfect to be used outside in colder weather. It provides you and your child enough warmth. If you are planning to use it during summer, just make sure that your child is wearing light clothing.

Cleaning is also effortless because of the material. It also dries quickly, and it is easy to place it on your bag when you are not using it. It doesn’t occupy too much space like the other things in your baby bag.

Boba Wrap offers you 11 options. You can select from 9 different colours and 2 prints.

Colors include light gray, bloom, vintage blue, sangria, navy blue, dark blue, and dark grey. If you are not into plain colours, they have included a wrap with polka-dotted prints and another one with rainbow patterns.

How does it fare to other baby wraps?

Boba Wrap aims to offer comfort to the parent and the child without needing to sacrifice quality and durability. However, Boba Wrap isn’t the sole baby wrap that offers these. For those who have a baby to look after, choosing which to go for can be hard.

In this section, we’ll take a look at how Boba Wrap performs against other competitors. For this review, we selected two of the most popular — Moby Wrap and Solly Baby.

Boba Wrap vs. Moby Wrap

The Moby Wrap is made of 100% cotton and is approximately 6.6 yards long. It can carry babies that weigh from 8 pounds to 35 lbs. It can also be machine washed.

The cotton makes the wrapping more breathable and comfortable during warm days. It can stretch also, so you can use it until your infant becomes a toddler.

Moby Wrap also allows parents to configure the wrapping in four unique ways. This makes it more accommodating as your child develops. You can use Moby Wrap to carry them facing inwards, at the front, or on the hips.

If you compare the material, Moby Wrap is more comfortable in terms of breathability. Concerning thickness, the Boba Wrap is thicker than the Moby Wrap. The latter is more suitable to be used during the hot summer months so that you and your infant will be comfortable.

However, the Moby Wrap does not have a lot of room for stretchability in comparison to Boba Wrap. Once you put inside the baby in the wrap, the whole thing easily stretches if you use the Boba Wrap instead. You can tie it as tight as possible and it wouldn’t be much of a problem. This is much easier to deal with compared to Moby Wrap, where you must tie it just right because it doesn’t stretch as much. Plus-sized parents will also find the Boba Wrap more accomodating. It is also easier to use as your child develops.

Additionally, Boba Wrap’s weight range accommodates babies from 5 pounds up to 35 lbs. On the other hand, Moby Wrap ranges from 8 pounds to 35 pounds. The stretchability factor of Boba Wrap makes it easy to be used by babies that are beyond 35 pounds.

Both products are great, but if you’re looking for a more versatile infant wrap, the Boba Wrap is more recommended.

Boba Wrap vs. Solly Baby

Another wrap carrier that has become popular over the recent years is Solly Baby. They are also recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for being hip-healthy. Just like Boba Wrap, this one is at 5.5 yards. It may carry up to 25 pounds.

The material is made of 100% Lenzing Modal. For those who aren’t familiar with the fabric, it’s made from Austrian Beechwood tree pulp. This Austrian fabric is then weaved and processed in L.A.

Compared to cotton, Lenzing Modal is more breathable. It can circulate air better than most fabrics as it’s lighter. It’s also moisture-wicking, so it can keep you cool during summer while keeping you comfortable during winters. Boba Baby Wrap Preemie

However, in comparison to Boba Wrap, Solly Baby has a steeper learning curve. Tying can be harder even if there are tutorials available on the internet.

Additionally, the cloth can be too thin for some parents. Finding the perfect tightness when tying the wrap can be challenging too since it doesn’t stretch as well as Boba Wrap’s.

Though Solly Baby’s fabric is sturdy, the thicker feel of Boba Wrap could be more comforting for some parents. It’s also more durable from wear-and-tear.

Since Solly Baby can only accommodate up to 25 pounds, you might not have the ability to use it if your baby turns 9 months old. On the other hand, Boba Wrap can accommodate up to 35 lbs, which makes it usable until your child becomes a year old.

Pros & Cons

To help you decide whether Boba Wrap is recommended for you, we have summarised the pros and cons.

Advantages

  • Fabric is soft
  • Elastic
  • Durable
  • Affordable
  • Usable even by 1-year-old infants
  • Recommended for plus-sized parents

Disadvantages

  • Wrapping has a learning curve
  • Fabric can be too hot during summer
  • Petite-sized parents will find it too long

Bottom Line

Whether you’re a first-time parent or not, the Boba Wrap is an excellent investment. You can use it on your newborn baby until they become toddlers.

The material is durable and elastic. Because it’s 5% spandex, it can make you feel warm. Make sure you and your baby wear light clothing on hot days. It’s machine washable and dries quickly. You can use it in different ways. Furthermore, it’s easy to store them.

Even though it is not perfect, the benefits of using Boba Wrap outweigh its defects. It is durable compared to other infant wraps. It’s comfortable not just for your baby but for you also. Bid farewell to backaches! Boba Baby Wrap Preemie
