Baby wraps are a way for parents to carry their babies and toddlers.

The cloth tightly hugs your child around you, like another extra layer of clothing. In comparison to carriers, the wrap is designed to distribute your child’s weight evenly over your shoulders, hips, and back.

It is beneficial both for you and your child. It gives infants the support they need without sacrificing the parent’s comfort.

Whether you’re traveling, working at home, or you simply have to run a few errands, Boba Wrap allows you to easily carry your child while you move around.

If you want to know more about Boba Wrap, we’ll be reviewing its benefits and how different it is compared to other brands.

What is Boba Wrap? Baby Sling Boba Wrap

Boba Wrap was founded by husband and wife Elizabeth and Robert Antunovic. It started back in 2007 when their family was traveling across Europe. Since then, they’ve now grown to accommodate tens of thousands of customers across the globe.

They are even certified as hip-healthy for infants by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. The baby’s spine and hips are well protected because the wrap helps position them.

Their first product — the Boba Wrap, is a sort of stretchable fabric intended to carry the baby. This allows the babies to be as close as possible with their parents or caregivers. The baby will be able to snuggle closely to their parent’s chest, giving them the warmth and comfort they need.

A parent’s scent is one of the most comforting things for a baby. Top it off with getting warmth and hearing your heartbeat, and you’ll have one happy baby.

It’s ergonomic and breastfeeding-friendly. You can still use them even if your child is a toddler but they work best when used in newborns. Aside from Boba Wraps, they also offer Boba Carriers as well as accessories.

If you never had experience how to tie baby wraps, their website also offers wrap tutorials and tips.

What is Boba Wrap made of?

Boba Wrap is made of a blend of fabric having 5% Spandex and 95% cotton. These two materials make it stretchable and soft.

For reference, the Boba Wrap is about 5.5 yards long. Even though it’s stretchable, it’s not as elastic as other substances, which is just fine as it’s sufficient to carry your baby. The best thing about this is that even with repeated use, it doesn’t snag. You will be able to use the wrap until your child reaches 35 pounds. Some parents found no issues when they tried it on their toddlers.

Although the fabric is breathable, the blend of cotton and spandex can make it too warm to wear during the hottest days of summer. Otherwise, it is perfect to be used outside in colder weather. It provides you and your child enough warmth. Just make sure that your child is wearing light clothing if you’re intending to use it during summer.

Another note about the material is that it makes the wrapping easy to clean. Additionally, it dries quickly, and it is easy to place it on your bag when you are not using it. It doesn’t occupy too much space like the other things on your baby bag.

Boba Wrap gives you 11 options. You can choose from 9 different colors and 2 prints.

Colors include light gray, bloom, vintage blue, sangria, navy blue, dark blue, and dark gray. If you are not into plain colours, they’ve included a wrap with polka-dotted prints and another one with rainbow patterns.

How does it fare to other baby wraps?

Boba Wrap aims to provide comfort to the parent and the child without having to sacrifice durability and quality. However, Boba Wrap isn’t the sole baby wrap that offers these. If you have a baby to take care of, choosing which to go for can be hard.

In this section, we will take a look at how Boba Wrap performs against other competitors. With this review, we selected two of the most popular — Moby Wrap and Solly Baby.

Boba Wrap vs. Moby Wrap

The Moby Wrap is made of 100% cotton and is about 6.6 yards long. It can carry babies that weigh from 8 pounds to 35 lbs. It can also be machine washed.

The cotton makes the wrapping more breathable and comfortable during hot days. Because it’s also stretchable, you can use it until your infant becomes a toddler.

Moby Wrap also allows parents to configure the wrapping in four unique ways. This makes it more accommodating as your child develops. You can use Moby Wrap to carry them facing inwards, at the front, or on the hips.

If you compare the material, Moby Wrap is more comfortable when it comes to breathability. In terms of thickness, the Boba Wrap is thicker than the Moby Wrap. The latter is more suitable to be used during the hot summer months so that you and your infant will be comfortable.

However, the Moby Wrap does not have a lot of room for stretchability in comparison to Boba Wrap. Once you put inside the baby in the wrap, the whole thing easily stretches if you use the Boba Wrap instead. It is possible to tie it as tight as you can and it wouldn’t be much of a problem. This is much easier to deal with compared to Moby Wrap, where you have to tie it just right since it doesn’t stretch as much. Plus-sized parents also find the Boba Wrap more accomodating. It’s also easier to use as your child grows.

Furthermore, Boba Wrap’s weight range accommodates babies from 5 pounds up to 35 lbs. On the other hand, Moby Wrap ranges from 8 pounds to 35 pounds. The stretchability factor of Boba Wrap makes it possible to be used by babies which are beyond 35 pounds.

Both products are good, but if you’re looking for a more versatile infant wrap, the Boba Wrap is more recommended.

Boba Wrap vs. Solly Baby

Solly Baby is another wrap carrier which has become popular over recent years. They are also recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for being hip-healthy. The length is at 5.5 yards, just like Boba Wrap.

The material is made of 100% Lenzing Modal. For those who aren’t familiar with the fabric, it is made from Austrian Beechwood tree pulp. This Austrian fabric is then weaved and processed in L.A.

Compared to cotton, Lenzing Modal is much more breathable. It can circulate air better than other fabrics since it’s lighter. Additionally, it is moisture-wicking, so it can keep you cool during summer while keeping you comfortable during winters. Baby Sling Boba Wrap

However, compared to Boba Wrap, Solly Baby has a steeper learning curve. Even if there are tutorials available online, tying can be harder than Boba Wrap.

Additionally, the cloth can be too thin for some parents. It doesn’t stretch as well as Boba Wrap’s, so finding just the right tightness when creating the wrap can be more challenging.

Although Solly Baby’s fabric is sturdy, the thicker feel of Boba Wrap might be more reassuring for some parents. It’s also more durable from wear-and-tear.

Since Solly Baby can only accommodate up to 25 pounds, you may not be able to use it if your baby turns 9 weeks old. On the other hand, Boba Wrap can accommodate up to 35 pounds, which makes it usable until your child becomes a year old.

Bottom Line

The Boba Wrap is an excellent investment, whether you’re a first-time parent or not. You can use it on your newborn baby until they become toddlers.

The material is durable and elastic. Because it’s 5% spandex, it can make you feel warm. Make sure you and your baby wear light clothing on hot days. It’s machine washable and dries fast. You can use it in various ways. Additionally, it’s easy to store them.

Although it’s not perfect, the benefits of using Boba Wrap outweigh its defects. It is durable compared to other baby wraps. It’s comfortable not just for your baby but for you also. Bid farewell to backaches! Baby Sling Boba Wrap
