Baby wraps are a great way for parents to carry their infants and toddlers.

The cloth tightly hugs your child around you, like another extra layer of clothing. Compared to carriers, the wrap is designed to distribute your baby’s weight evenly over your shoulders, hips, and back.

It’s beneficial both for you and your little one. It gives infants the support they need without sacrificing the parent’s comfort.

Boba Wrap allows you to easily carry your child while you’re traveling or while you work at home, or whenever you just need to run a few errands.

If you want to find out more about Boba Wrap, we’ll be reviewing its benefits and how different it is compared to other brands.

What is Boba Wrap? Baby In Boba Wrap

Boba Wrap was founded by husband and wife Elizabeth and Robert Antunovic. It started back in 2007 when their family was traveling across Europe. Since then, they’ve now grown to accommodate thousands of customers across the world.

They’re even certified as hip-healthy for infants by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. The baby’s spine and hips are well protected because the wrap helps properly position them.

Their first product — the Boba Wrap, is a sort of stretchable fabric intended to carry the infant. This allows the babies to be as close as possible with their parents or caregivers. The baby will be able to snuggle closely to their parent’s chest, giving them the warmth and comfort they need.

A parent’s scent is among the most comforting things for a baby. Top it off with getting warmth and hearing your heartbeat, and you will have one happy baby.

It’s ergonomic and breastfeeding-friendly. They’re best used on newborns, but you can still use them if your child is already a toddler. Apart from Boba Wraps, they also offer Boba Carriers and even accessories.

If you never had experience how to tie baby wraps, their website also offers wrap tutorials and tips.

What is Boba Wrap made of?

Boba Wrap is made from a blend of cloth having 5% Spandex and 95% cotton. These two materials make it soft and pliable.

For reference, the Boba Wrap is 5.5 yards long. Although it is stretchable, it’s not as elastic as other substances, which is just fine since it’s sufficient to carry your infant. The best thing about this is that even with repeated use, it will not snag. You will be able to use the wrap until your child reaches 35 pounds. Some parents even have tried it on toddlers and found no problems.

It’s also breathable, but the mix of spandex can make it too warm to wear during the hottest days of summer. Otherwise, it is perfect to be used outside in colder weather. It provides you and your child enough warmth. If you’re planning to use it during summer, just make sure that your child is wearing light clothing.

Cleaning is also effortless because of the material. It also dries quickly, and you can easily place it on your bag when you are not using it. It doesn’t take up too much space like the other items in your baby bag.

Boba Wrap gives you 11 options. You can select from 9 different colors and 2 prints.

Colors include light grey, bloom, vintage blue, sangria, navy blue, dark blue, and dark gray. If you’re not into plain colors, they have included a wrap with polka-dotted prints and another one with rainbow patterns.

How does it fare to other wraps?

Boba Wrap aims to offer comfort to the parent and the child without needing to sacrifice durability and quality. However, Boba Wrap is not the only baby wrap that offers these. It can be tough to choose, especially for those who have a baby to take care of.

In this section, we will take a look at how Boba Wrap performs against other competitors. For this review, we selected two of the most popular — Moby Wrap and Solly Baby.

Boba Wrap vs. Moby Wrap

The Moby Wrap is made of 100% cotton and is approximately 6.6 yards long. It can carry babies that weigh from 8 pounds to 35 lbs. It can also be machine washed.

The cotton makes the wrapping more breathable and comfortable during warm days. Because it’s also stretchable, you can use it until your baby becomes a toddler.

Moby Wrap also allows parents to configure the wrapping in four different ways. This makes it more accommodating as your child grows. You can use Moby Wrap to carry them facing inwards, at the front, or on the hips.

If you compare the material, Moby Wrap is more comfortable when it comes to breathability. Concerning thickness, the Boba Wrap is thicker compared to the Moby Wrap. Although both are durable, if you’re using it during the hot summer months, Moby Wrap would be more comfortable.

However, the Moby Wrap doesn’t have a lot of room for stretchability in comparison to Boba Wrap. As soon as you put inside the baby in the wrap, the whole thing easily stretches if you use the Boba Wrap instead. You can tie it as tight as possible and it wouldn’t be much of a problem. This is easier to deal with compared to Moby Wrap, where you have to tie it just right since it doesn’t stretch as much. Plus-sized parents also find the Boba Wrap more accomodating. It’s also easier to use as your child grows.

Furthermore, Boba Wrap’s weight range accommodates babies from 5 pounds up to 35 lbs. On the other hand, Moby Wrap ranges from 8 pounds to 35 pounds. The stretchability factor of Boba Wrap makes it possible to be used by babies that are beyond 35 pounds.

Both products are good, but if you’re looking for a more versatile infant wrap, the Boba Wrap is more recommended.

Boba Wrap vs. Solly Baby

Another wrap carrier that has become popular over the recent years is Solly Baby. They’re also recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for being hip-healthy. The same as Boba Wrap, this one is at 5.5 yards. It may carry up to 25 pounds.

The material is made of 100% Lenzing Modal. For those who aren’t familiar with the fabric, it is made from Austrian Beechwood tree pulp. This Austrian fabric is then weaved and processed in L.A.

Compared to cotton, Lenzing Modal is more breathable. It can circulate air better than most fabrics since it’s lighter. Additionally, it is moisture-wicking, so it can keep you cool during summer while keeping you comfortable during winters. Baby In Boba Wrap

However, in comparison to Boba Wrap, Solly Baby has a steeper learning curve. Tying can be harder even if there are tutorials available on the internet.

Additionally, the cloth can be too thin for some parents. Finding the perfect tightness when tying the wrap can be challenging too since it doesn’t stretch as well as Boba Wrap’s.

Though Solly Baby’s fabric is sturdy, the thicker feel of Boba Wrap might be more comforting for some parents. It is also more long-lasting from wear-and-tear.

Since Solly Baby can only accommodate up to 25 pounds, you may not be able to use it when your baby turns 9 weeks old. On the other hand, Boba Wrap can accommodate up to 35 pounds, making it usable until your child becomes a year old.

Pros & Cons

To help you decide whether Boba Wrap is suitable for you, we’ve summarised the advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages

  • Elastic
  • Durable
  • Affordable
  • Usable even by 1-year-old babies
  • Recommended for plus-sized parents

Disadvantages

Bottom Line

The Boba Wrap is an excellent investment, whether you are a first-time parent or not. You can use it on your newborn baby until they become toddlers.

The material is durable and elastic. Because it’s 5% spandex, it can make you feel warm. Remember to wear light clothing on hot days. It’s machine washable and dries quickly. You can use it in different ways. Furthermore, it’s easy to store them.

Even though it is not perfect, the benefits of using Boba Wrap outweigh its flaws. It’s durable compared to other baby wraps. It’s comfortable not only for your baby but for you as well. Say goodbye to backaches! Baby In Boba Wrap
